Steve Aitkins is an award-winning photojournalist (Military Photographer of the Year contest when he was a U.S. Coast Guard photojournalist for 15 years) and he has been on interesting and sometimes dangerous photo assignments all the world, including in Antarctica, Cuba, South America, Hawaii, Asia, Europe, French Polynesia and all over the U.S. He has always challenged himself to find and capture unique and intriguing moments even in mundane, everyday situations.
He is currently working on a book with his images. His work was exhibited in Columbus (Ohio) Museum of Art in 2015. His photographs have been published in newspapers and magazines all over the globe.
His assignments have always been focused on people and storytelling in unique situations and environments. His current emphasis is street photography and catching unique moments in urban environments in the San Francisco Bay Area and on public transportation.
